Startup Stories: Cozy Bug, Fashion That Grows with Kids

Cozy Bug

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
Cozy Bug is an adorable but timeless clothing line for girls that specialize in “pillowcase” style dresses. These dresses GROW with the kids! They are designed to cinch at the neck allowing for growth across the chest and under the arms and tie with cute ribbons at the shoulder allowing for growth in length. Cozy Bug only uses high quality fabrics that won't fade after dozens of washes. Once the little girl is too tall for it to be worn as a dress it can be worn as a tunic with leggings or shorts. What mom doesn't love to save money?

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
My mother-in-law mailed me the cutest pillowcase dresses from Alabama and we literally got stopped everywhere we went and moms (and one dad!) were asking where we got our dress. We live in Los Angeles and I couldn't think of anywhere that sold this style, and that's when I decided to “pillowcase” the world!

What problem does your business or organization solve?
Cozy Bug solves the problem of moms having to spend tons of money to have their daughters look too cute for words because our dresses grow with the kids. The kids won't outgrow them in one season and can literally be worn for years to come.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest hurdle as an entrepreneur has been getting in contact with all of the buyers at the big retail chains. It is not as easy as you would think!

Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
Tenacious.

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
Project Eve has helped Cozy Bug because it provides a wealth of resources; whether its finding a service that they recommend or reading stories about other entrepreneurs and their struggles or advice. It is so refreshing to know that other people are living and going through a lot of the same things I am as a business owner!

Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry or startup story.
If you want to get into kids fashion you need to study what all the competitors are selling and stay ahead of what they are doing. The cuter the better!
