Finally a Good Night’s Sleep

When you're going through menopause, sleeping through the night seems like an impossible dream. Insomnia and sleep disturbances caused by hot flashes leave many menopausal women tossing and turning or waking up drenched in sweat. Restless nights lead to irritability, anxiousness, fatigue, and trouble concentrating.

As a married woman going through menopause, I thought that living in Vermont would be a plus. Unfortunately, my severe hot flashes often force me to kick off the goose down comforter on my bed which leaves my husband fully exposed to the frigid mountain air. So when Sleep Number asked if I'd be interested in testing out their new DualTemp™ layer, I jumped at the chance.
The day my Sleep Number's DualTemp™ I was giddy. The SLEEP NUMBER® DualTemp™ layer is like a giant foam mattress pad that rests on top of any mattress. The amazing part is that it uses active air technology to heat or cool each side of the bed. The layer took about 20 minutes to fully cool down. I recommend turning on the unit before you begin your nighttime ritual of brushing your teeth and getting ready for bed.

It was love at first sleep. I was able to adjust the temperature on my side of the bed without disrupting my husband's sleep cycle. The DualTemp Layer maintains its temperature with a one-way air-circulation system. The active air technology allowed me to choose from cool to warm at the touch of a button. I could choose from three specific levels- low, medium or high for both hot and cool settings. Bonus Alert! The heating and cooling fan added the perfect amount of white noise to our room. For the first night in months, we both slept through the night.

  • Active air technology delivers enhanced airflow performance and ultimate comfort
  • Choose from multiple temperature settings–from cool to warm–at the touch of a button
  • Universal design works on either side of the bed, left or right
  • Timer allows for automatic shutoff whenever you choose, in one hour increments, up to nine hours

According to their website, a King or Queen DualTemp Layer will use approximately 200W depending on the user settings. This is comparable to a 40″ LCD TV or standard desktop.

What's your perfect sleep temperature? Do you like it hot and toasty or cold and crisp?

I was provided a SLEEP NUMBER® DualTemp™ layer to review for this post. All opinions are my own.
