This blog is based on actual events. Strolling through the store today I looked on the faces of people passing. Each one of them appeared to have multiple things on their minds. They probably could see the same thing in me. I had many thoughts racing through my mind, which included what did I come in the store for again?
Anyway, as I finally got the items I purposefully went to the store for I hurried to the express line. Needless to say I made sure that I had under the 15 item requirement. At the end of the transaction I felt a sigh of relief, because I could finally get home. When I approached the car I put the few groceries in and proceeded to get in the car. Upon checking my mirrors I noticed a small to medium size insect on my rear view mirror. Now, I must be honest and say that I am not an insect/bug type of person. To be quite candid I have a total distaste for all insects. Nonetheless, I was going to have to bare with looking at this creepy crawler on my mirror as I proceeded to my destination. I thought that once I got on the highway this bug would definitely fly away. However, to my misfortune even with me speeding he continued to hold his present position. He would crinkle up and look as if he was dying, but soon as the car paused he would take on his shape again.
By the time I arrived home, which was only about 10 minutes later I had to gather up enough nerves to knock this determined creature off my mirror. I grabbed a piece of paper in the car and gently flicked the insect. Before, I could give him an even better flick his wings extended and WHOOSH! He was gone. For a moment I had an epiphany. This bug was free to fly away the entire time, but he chose to hold on for dear life. I pose this question to myself as well as to you. Why hold onto something for dear life and nearly be tortured in the process when we have the ability to fly? Maybe we wouldn’t be so bombarded with thoughts if we would let go and soar the way God created us to. I leave you with one of my favorite scriptures “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” Isa. 40:31 (KJV).
