They say a picture is worth a thousand words. What if that picture was on your body?

P.Ink is a non-profit that connects breast cancer survivors who have undergone a masectomy to tattoo artists and resources to help them through their healing process. In their view and in the eyes of the survivors they have helped, turning a reminder from their past into a beautiful work of art on one’s body is a way to enter a new chapter in one’s life and start fresh.

According to the research on P.ink’s site, “There are 2.6 million Breast Cancer survivors in the U.S. After surgery, 56% of them are left with unwanted masectomy scars and no nipples.” In a compassionate and loving way, P.ink is helping to turn something scary and dark into something symbolic and beautiful.

P.ink’s site is set up on Pinterest with different pinterest boards highlighting their purpose, resources, and the women they have touched. The goal of P.ink is to expose survivors to a healing option that they may not know much about: tattoos. For many people, tattoos have been an alternative way to spiritually and emotionally heal from a traumatic incident in one’s life.

P.ink offers an outlet to share these stories on their pinterest board. One story, in particular really struck a chord with me, and I’m going to let the video below explain her story, because words cannot describe the admiration I hold for this woman named Molly and her journey.

Breast Cancer does not discriminate and everyone knows at least one person who has been affected by it. Sometimes it feels as if it’s beyond our control and in many ways it is. But this is one way that cancer will never win. Cancer cannot take away a survivors spirit and courage to start fresh and anew. P.ink is just one of the organizations out there helping women on the journey towards starting their new chapter after having a masectomy.

If you are a breast cancer survivor or a tattoo artist (or know either) you can connect with P.ink from the list below:
