What inspired you to launch your business idea?
Our paths crossed as mutual friends were going through tumultuous divorces. We both reached out to help these friends….one partner imparting wisdom and guidance based on her own complicated divorce and the other holding her friend's hands and listening to their war stories. It was frustrating to both of us that even with our business backgrounds, (by the way one of us has an MBA in Finance) we could not find a resource that gave our friends all the information they needed to effectively manage a divorce. We reached out to lawyers, family therapists, financial planners, mediators and other related professionals to determine what their clients wanted and needed to be well informed during the divorce process and how to structure the information in a manageable format. Thus we embarked on a journey to create DIVORCEapedia: The Divorce Encyclopedia & Workbook…an easy to use step-by-step guide for people thinking about or going through a divorce.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
You would be amazed how many women of all socioeconomic backgrounds are just not able to effectively navigate a divorce. We find they don’t have the knowledge that they need to effectively manage the many aspects of the divorce process. Books and the internet can be helpful, but are often full of extraneous information, making it difficult for someone to determine the information they really need to handle a divorce effectively. People, and women in particular, are inclined to quickly hire a lawyer. Without the knowlege to ask the right questions people often choose a lawyer with whom they are badly matched. Our products and services educate people to develop the appropriate financial and familial picture they need to paint in order for their lawyer to develop an accurate strategy. Needless to say, all this preliminary research is both enpowering and saves tremendously on lawyer’s fees.
