Oscar and Anna's classic “Shoe In” Cleo satchel is an innovative and chic handbag designed with an upper pouch for all necessities, and a lower pouch for bigger/bulkier items like heels, iPad, outerwear, wine, diapers, etc. The bag’s uses have expanded beyond measure with women (and men) awakening to a better, more functional, handbag concept. The collection has grown to encompass a core of handbag designs with functionality and style as the focus.
Oscar and Anna is run by designer, Anna Zefferys, and her pet dog, Oscar, out of New York City where all bags are manufactured. Thank you!!
What inspired you to launch your business idea?
After a hard look at handbag designs on the market, I decided it was time to take a fresh approach to the structure of the standard ladies handbag. First and foremost, I desired a bag that was multifunctional, could easily go from day-to-night, and importantly, secretly stash away all items that typically occupy the majority of real estate in the giant pouch of a standard bag and make it easier to access essentials like phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, airplane tickets, etc.
There was a gap in the market for a concept bag that was luxurious and stylish as well as functional. My aim was to fill that gap and make this first product the basis for our collections going forward with a vision of philanthropical contribution to early childhood development upon gaining our foothold in the market.
What problem does your business or organization solve?
Women struggle to find their phones, wallet, and keys in the standard “pouch” that is most handbags. With all that we have going on in our lives every day, struggling with accessories should be the least of our concerns. Style should be elegant and fluid as should reaching into your bag for your cell phone.
Our products make something so simple a reality: Beauty + function = value.
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
SImply: Exposure-getting out there and giving women the opportunity to see this unique and innovative “Shoe In” concept for themselves. Realizing that there is something better often brings on that “why didn't I think of that” moment which we love to hear.
