P.R.A.Y. is line of jewelry that is socially conscious, eco-friendly, recycled, and infused with healing energies and vibrations. P.R.A.Y.'s mission is to heal mankind 1 piece of jewelry at a time. It is my belief that ~Consciousness is Sexy~ and by tuning into our truth and greater purpose in life, people are able to embody their most beautiful inner selves.
What inspired you to launch your business idea?
I've always been driving to follow a greater purpose in life. For me that was healing, for many years myself of an autoimmune disease, and later to use my energy to inspire and heal others. Years traveling in the Far East, practicing yoga and other forms of energy work, I cultivated deep belief and experience, both personal and with others, in the powers of ancient Eastern energy techniques.
As an artist and healer with vision, I needed my work to hold great purpose and meaning, and it made sense to combine the hidden techniques utilized in the Far East with modern, wearable jewelry, so that people around the world would have every-day access to such a rare, valuable commodity
What problem does your business or organization solve?
Modern society is out of balance. Humanity at its core, while inherently good, is in dis-ease, lacking purpose, and destroying the planet. Major urban centers foster a lack of soul that is impenetrable. There is a strong, natural movement evolving and re-balance the system, known to many as the rise of global consciousness.
While pockets of people and communities exist around the world to support this rise in consciousness, it is growing organically and slowly, as it should. Eco-fashion is needed; it is a bare minimum in today's world. I believe we should demand fashion that is reused, recycled, upcycled, fair trade, ethically made, indie, vegan, donating to good causes (all of which P.R.A.Y. does).
What is of utmost importance, however, is the how, the why, the energy, vibration and love that goes into our products. P.R.A.Y. is one of the first leading the evolution of the Slow Fashion movement into our next level of consciousness: products that are actually infused with energy and powers that heal us, that heal our planet and contribute to the betterment of society by transforming people into the best versions of themselves.
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
The word P.R.A.Y.! I'm not religious, AT ALL! I didn't choose the name thinking about the product. In fact, the full vision had not yet been conceptualized when I came up with the name. It's one of those fairy-hippie stories where a flash of light came down on the paper that I was drawing my logo and name. I was working with acronyms, something to represent my essence, because in fact I knew that whatever I was creating would inspire people to connect to their own essence and truth. Somehow I came out with Pure Rock Angel Yogi, and P.R.A.Y., at first a bit freaked out, but then just went with it.
Related to connotations and judgments that come with the word P.R.A.Y., relaying the story behind my product is challenging. I am changing intangible energy into a tangible form. It is already hard for many people to grasp concepts of energy, belief, transformation, consciousness, so to conceptualize that a piece of jewelry is infused with healing energy is a bit out there for most.
