As a Healthy Living Catalyst, Life Strategist and Adventure Instigator, I created my company to help women live a life loaded with healthy lifestyle practices, passionate purpose and freedom to be exactly the person they damn well please. My recent project launch, Beauty Experiment, gives women the opportunity to redefine their reflection and flip the script on body image in a supportive + celebratory environment of women. Diving into personal redevelopment in a group format, the session will envelop positive interaction and activities that will completely rewrite one’s personal struggles, self-worth and body battles.
What inspired you to launch your business idea?
Being internally miserable + utterly miserable.
I spent the early part of my twenties trying to look thinner, play smaller and basically, not screw up this vanilla life I was supposed to be ecstatic about.
And although I was all glitter + sunshine on the outside, my inside was in chaos. I had a wicked eating disorder and an aimless outlook on life. I was a stripped-down version of my creative, rule-bending + formerly happy self.
I found myself enthusiastically stumbling through my own particular variety of a quarter-life crisis.
All I knew was that I was a pretty kick ass person and self-defeating habits, battle with my body + other people's vapid rules were dimming my spark. But how do you be bold + stay hidden? You absolutely can't
So I cleaned house and beautiful uphill battle began. And out when the crap in my life — food, people, excuses. I abruptly left negative thinking, piss-poor behavior and hard-hung habits behind; diving headfirst into the ‘take care of you for a change' waters, determined to figure out the aggressive answer to feeling fantastic.
And after a ton of action-upgrading and thinking twists, I realized that authentic + unleashed living holds the blueprint for bliss. And that I needed to share those nuggets of wisdom.
So I ditched corporate and a 6-figure gig to create women-centric workshops and to coach women how to live, feel and think really REALLY good.
What problem does your business or organization solve?
I work with folks who want to do things differently. Work, play, eat + live miles from the standard status quo. Who believe life shouldn’t feel like a chore, your reflection shouldn’t be your enemy + that joy and adventure should be built into the everyday. Helping driven and hopeful women unleash the best + boldest version of their self, while achieving their wildest dream goals.
During my coaching sessions and workshops, I help women take accountability of their own spark and stop asking for permission to thrive, across a whole host of areas in their life. Beauty Experiment particularly focuses on body image — helping women redesign their personal insecurities and change the language they use to talk about their self, life and beautiful body.
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
Aligning my passions. Every day I'm doing, reading or trying something different and can be a little bit of an experience junkie, so I had to figure out how to consolidate the things I loved in my business.
I sat down and wrote out a list of all the things I loved to do, the things that made me happy, the mark I wanted to leave on the world and it came down to this: Beautification.
I like to make something look and feel beautiful (and not just in the physical sense). Sure, I like to rehab old furniture, but what I really love is to help a woman see her intrinsic beauty, her gift to the world and radiate with confidence. For her to live life completely standing in her personal power — now that's beautiful.
Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
Welcoming. The greatest gift I can give people is the gift of being heard, seen and accepted as they are. Even my house is a constant flow of new and old faces.
How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
The entrepreneur stories! Passionate and inspiring tales from other women lets us solo business ladies know that we're not alone and that we're making a huge difference in the world, even if it feel teeny-tiny and sometimes frustrating and usually like a whole lot of work.
Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry or startup story.
When you engage with people, think of what you can do for them, not what they can do for you. No one likes b.s. and it's easy to spot someone who's self-serving.
