Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
I am excited to share my business venture with you. The Neoteric Group is a business consulting and business coaching company and I offer these services to business leaders, owners and entrepreneurs. My services support leadership development, business start up, business growth and increasing profitability.
Neoteric means ‘new thinking’ – I support and encourage new thinking to help people and organizations reach their goals. Through new thinking I help you to define your success and support you in removing the barriers to your success.
I have been asked what is ”The Neoteric Group” a group of? Well, at this time it is not a group of people but rather a group of ideas with a vision of growing into a group of companies all with a common focus – a focus on helping people and organizations reach excellence and success through coaching and consulting.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
I am fortunate to have many passions and have been blessed to be able to pursue both academic and professional goals within my areas of passion. In addition to my family, my passions include health care, seniors’ care, coaching and people development, leadership development and teaching. I am grateful to have been able to achieve four academic degrees in the areas of health care, business and leadership and for being able to contribute to amazing organizations and work with fantastic people for the past 19 years.
Prior to The Neoteric Group I struggled with a tension – do I follow the expected path based on my academic and career background or do I follow my heart? Although subtle this tension took its toll. I was at the point where I needed to be continuously connected, and I felt like I was ‘on’ 24/7; I know that many of you may feel this way. I am proud to have been part of a great organization with its strong mission and vision. After about 2 years I started to question my judgment – if I was in my dream job why did I not feel 100% into it? I am fortunate to have a wonderful mentor, and about 2 years ago she encouraged me to look at my ”worthiness” – at first I was not even sure what this meant. Facing my own worthiness was initially daunting but then evolved into a meaningful experience.
Another conversation that was very meaningful was with another mentor – in the spring of 2007, in a meeting related to finding solutions to work issues – he said “you are getting caught in the weeds, the minutia”. ”You will need to see the big picture and get out of the weeds to find the solution.” Recently I had been caught in the weeds in my career and I have now stood up, seen the big picture and got out of the weeds…
Moving on from a great career was a difficult decision – despite the amazing people and values of the organization I realized that I needed to change direction. Through reflection, ‘new thinking’ and re-defining my success I know that I need to be authentic and to follow my heart.
Following my heart has led me to consulting and coaching, to create The Neoteric Group – to work with people and organizations pursuing excellence, leadership and professional development; an area where I will add value.
What problem does your business or organization solve?
Many business owners have a great passion for their business and niche and this passion serves them well in the early start up days. Similarly many business leaders have great ideas for a new business but are not sure whether or not it is worth the risk. As a business consultant and coach I love to work with leaders and owners to help them answer their tough questions. Could I be managing my business better? How do I start a successful business? How to grow faster? How do I engage my employees? How to increase my profits?
I help business leaders to get sustainable solutions to solve these types of challenges.
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been to focus on my niche area – there are so many areas of business and leadership that I am passionate about and want to help other business leaders with that my focus and energy tends to shift. I am overcoming this by setting a clear vision, stretch goals and expected outcomes and I have put a marketing and business development plan in place to ensure that I remain focused and achieve my vision and goals.

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
I have been reading the Project Eve articles from before I started my business and the site has provided me with ideas and motivation to start my business and has provided a lot of great ideas on how I can manage my business more successfully.
I have ‘favorited' many of the tweets and go back to them to read those articles that were most inspirational and valuable.
Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry or startup story.
When dealing with business consultants and coaches communicate in terms of value rather than ‘effort'. For example, ask your consultant how will they add value to you or your business rather than how many days per week will they spend on a project. The qualitative outcome of ‘value' is much more beneficial and sustainable than the quantitative outcome of ‘effort' or time.
Go with the consultant or coach that can communicate the best value for you…your business results will be tremendous!
