The Right Tools

As a teenage girl my dad would share this bit of advice. I am positive he was a bit nervous having a teenage daughter and worried about what type of relationships I would be getting into. My Dad used to tell me you really don’t need a man to fix things in life, you really just need the right tool.  Often when I share this bit of advice I get a mixed response.  I  do think my Dad was being very literal, I didn’t need a man  to complete the unfinished things in  my life and figuring out the right tool to remedy the problem is important process in life.  I seriously don’t think my dad never wanted me to be in a relationship with a man. I think he just wanted me to know my options and not put all my needs in one place or even one person.

But I have taken that saying to heart through my whole life… not with men but with tools. I have a wonderful husband TY! I always look for the best tool to help me maneuver through life. Whether its a pen or bag or even an app, I am always looking for ways to simplify my life AND I do it with a smile on my face!

Here are some tools I find to be very helpful:

(These happen to be apps that really help a person like me out.)

1. Evernote

Not only is it easy to save images on the web but you can share notebooks when working on a project. Its like a library of notebooks of your life and each note contains great resolution images. You can also add audio, which I find so helpful because not only can the recipient of your note hear what you have to say, you can verbally read the note to an individual – a nice personal touch if I do say so myself.

2. Print Friendly

A great app. I try to go paperless as possible but sometimes I have to print a page. Rather than printing the entire page when only 20% of the content is really what I need, this app allows you to only print what you want! Bye bye ads and useless info! You are allowed to print your essentials… simple as that!

PrintFriendly makes printing on the web better. You’ll save paper and ink, plus get great looking documents.

Prints Clean: Our algorithm removes ads, navigation, and all the junk you don’t want to print.

Prints Pretty: We use best practices in print Typography to format your document for great readability.

Customize: Save even more paper and ink, remove images, paragraphs, and Get PDF

3. Tooledo

www.toodeledo.com

I use this app for my long term goals and/or bigger projects. It helps keep me on track and a big project broken into small steps is much easier to manage. I am able to break down the steps but in the deadlines I prioritize, add notes and it emails me however I would like: each day, week etc..

4. Plan to eat

Though I prefer free apps, sometimes you have to invest for simplified life. I love the features of this app because I can keep a pantry and it shows what date I purchased items and what stores I buy them from. I can keep my recipes on hand. How many times have you gone to the store and forgot to write that one ingredient down? Arrive home and that ingredient just happens to be the very main ingredient of the dish. This app allows you to double check your ingredient while at the store.

Give these a look and a try–I would love to hear how it goes!
