Sometimes, when you look up into the sky, it's clear and blue and all is well in the world. Then, there are times when you look up and the clouds are dark, gloomy and frankly a bit scary.
The first thing to remember when the sky is ominous, is that:
1. It Will Pass
Whatever, difficulty you're having, whether it be in life or work, time moves on, things change and the clouds will disperse to reveal blue sky once again.
It's exactly the same with those dark tunnels you sometimes find yourself in, where there's not even a glimmer of light, there appears to be no way forward or back, but standing still isn't an option.
2. There is always delight at the end of the tunnel
No matter how dark your particular tunnel gets, not only is there light at the end, but there's also joy, happiness and love too. Remember that, the next time you find yourself in such a tunnel.
Everyone Else is Happy and Successful
Not true. At all. Ever.
Looking across at other people's lives is a hopeless cause because you'll never, ever be them, so please stop attempting to be them.
3. When you are more like yourself, life gets a whole lot easier
There is no such thing as perfection. No one has the perfect life or the perfect job or the perfect relationship or the perfect family. No one. So, give yourself a break and enjoy your imperfections. In fact, relish them because those are the things that make you, you.
By being more you, you will fulfil your own potential, not the potential of others.
4. Live your own life, not anyone else's
I thank my clients for teaching me some simple truths and for the tricky journey I've taken in life so far, to get me to this point. Without the trials and tribulations of a failed marriage, a business I had to close and poor financial choices, I wouldn't be the person I am today or doing the work I love doing.
