Here’re a few simple ways you may not have considered that will help your kickstart your blog’s sales:

Stop Losing Mobile Sales

I almost can’t believe this is true. According to Social Media Examiner’s 2016 Social Media Marketing Industry Report, some bloggers still haven’t optimized their blogs for mobile devices:

  • Fifty-four percent of marketers surveyed have a mobile-optimized blog, up from 50% in
    2015 and 43% in 2014.
  • B2B marketers were more likely to have their blogs mobile-optimized (62%), when
    compared to B2C marketers (51%).

PayPal is the preferred method of online payment for millions of people. Now that eCommerce is evolving to mCommerce (mobile sales), it’s essential to capture this portion of the market. In fact, PayPal processes over 4 million transactions from smartphones every single day! So if you’re blog is not optimized for mobile sales, you may be losing sales opportunities.

This is an easy fix. Just update your theme to be mobile-friendly and make sure your eCommerce plugins (or whatever sales tools you use) also work on mobile devices.


Become an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate sales are an easy way for bloggers to increase profits. You simply recommend products to your readers and earn a percentage of each sale. You use a special link that tracks sales from your blog that ensures you get credit. Sounds easy, right?

Yet, you have to choose the right affiliate program for your blog. And you have to be honest with your readers. You can’t recommend products you don’t believe in or you’ll lose credibility. So choose affiliate programs that you already use. Here’re a few examples:

Change Your Content Priorities

Derek Halpern, from the wildly popular Social Triggers, writes “When I asked bloggers, ‘How do you spend time on your blog?’, they said ‘I spend about 80-90% of my time on creating content. This makes ZERO sense.”

This isn’t a new concept, as many blogging and content experts explain that creating constant content shouldn’t be your first priority. Although there will be those that advise bloggers to crank out content like a Pez dispenser, it’s more complex than that.

First, you need to create quality content, not filler content. Secondly, your focus should also be on promoting the blog content you already have. Start trying to optimize the content you already have. Promote your best and most popular posts and include a sales option when appropriate.
