No matter how busy a woman is, she should know these five important things to have a fulfilling life.
We live life in a hurry and most days, we forget what life is really about as we chase after deadlines, worrying about our period and forgetting to pay that telephone bill (again). Let’s put some order into the chaos by allowing ourselves to learn five important lessons every woman should know.
To fall in love is easy, staying in love needs hard work.
When it comes to love, a lot of us believe in fairy tales. More often than not we fall in and out of love too quickly. You can fall in love with a cute cuddly puppy or even a delicious meal and it’s not very difficult for you to fall in love with the next guy who appears in your life. When we are in a relationship, that’s the time to get serious of staying in love. Needless to say, loving someone needs work – hard work. Remember that keeping the flame alive in your relationship takes more effort than falling head over heels again.
To be independent
Are you relying too much on your partner, parents or your house mate? Time to cut lose and learn to do things on your own. There are women like us who are learning how to drive again and cook for ourselves. What about you? Can you live a day by doing everything on your own? Think about it and act on it as nothing is more liberating or empowering when you know you can do anything you want. Being independent is more than just doing well in your career, it is being able to experience life even when you are alone.
To track your period
More often than not, we ignore the fact that having period is part of our livelihood. I know that a number of women do not even track their period and often get stressed out about it when period flow happens unexpectedly. Track your period by using smartphone apps or even your personal calendar. By tracking your menstrual cycle, you can plan for pregnancy, or avoid unnecessary diseases and understand your body better. Choosing the right sanitary care can also ease the frustration of having an uncomfortable period cycle.
To care for your body, because …
“Your body will be around a lot longer than that expensive handbag. Invest in yourself”. Let’s hold true to this quote, start a skin-care regimen and exercise religiously because in order to have a fulfilling life, you need to take care of yourself. Understand that your actions make you who you are and you’re responsible for your own health, not your family members, friends or your co-workers. Make it a point to love yourself by practicing a healthy lifestyle.
To stop worrying
Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch author who helped many Jews escaped the Nazi Holocaust during World War II, said, “Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength”. If you keep worrying about what’s to come, how can you have the time and energy to enjoy today? Life is filled with challenges and it is up to us to make it an amazing journey. By worrying, you’re only spending precious time doing nothing, when you could have baked a cake or learnt a new language.
