8 Powerful Quotes for Winning Women

What happens when life pushes you down?

Every single woman who achieves victory understands that life can be tough and she does not give up easily just because there are obstacles along the journey of her destiny.

Winning women such as Mother Teresa, Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou and Malala Yousafzai are examples of women who always put up a good fight whenever they face challenges in life.

Personally, I find that life is an on-going journey meant to be experienced in the best possible way and I believe that every woman should be constantly motivated to do better than just ‘OK’.

Having said that, not every woman has the luxury of time to look for new inspirations or even the privilege to be surrounded only by the people who showers them with love, kindness and positive vibes.

Like any other young woman who’s busy juggling work, family and constantly in search of personal time, I keep a collection of quotes that has somehow become my pick-me-up when I feel beaten down by life.

These are 8 quotes which I came across in books, movies, magazines or stumbled upon on someone else’s blog.

“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.”
– E.B White

E.B White is the author of ‘Charlotte’s Web’ and I have always wondered how children’s books authors find the magic in the most mundane things in life. This quote reminds me to look beyond the problems in my life and find the good in every day.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
– Oprah Winfrey

Whenever I read this quote, I feel like kicking myself because when I am in a bad place, I tend to focus on what I do not have instead of being thankful for everything and everyone in my life. If you ever feel the same way, this quote can be a reminder to count your blessings than to keep count of what you lack.

“The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.”
– Deepak Chopra

This quote happens to be my favourite simply because it speaks to me in more ways than one. It’s very difficult for me to be on track when it comes to exercising and making healthier food choices but, thankfully when this quote comes to mind, I tell myself I can do better than making more excuses.

“…it’s in your best interest to look current, polished & put together.”
– Jesse Garza and Joe Lupo

Are you a fan of comfortable clothes like t-shirts, jeans and sneakers? Like you, I tend to choose to be comfortable and not any effort to iron out my suits or put on a dress. Unfortunately, appearance plays a huge part in our lives; PTA meetings, business meetings or even going out on a date – the other person judges your appearance even before they hear you utter your first word.

“You were born with wings. Why prefer to crawl through life?”
– Rumi

This is one quote that can help remind you of your abilities, strengths and skills. Never forget that you can make something good out of life, just remember to start working on it and stop doubting yourself every five minutes.

“God never gives us more than what we can carry.”
– Regina Brett

In her book, ‘God Never Blinks, Regina Brett shares 50 lessons in her life and this is the one line that struck me most. My understanding for this quote is almost similar to Rumi’s quote before this but, this just tells me that even when I pray or ask God something, I should try not to whine about my life. I should have a little more faith in myself and make my life work.

“Be happy. It’s one way of being wise.”
– Colette

More often than not, we forget that happiness can be cultivated into a habit. Yes, you can’t feel happy all the time but, you can choose to be happy all the time. Make it a choice and make it happen on your own.

“As long as your live, keep learning how to live.”
– Lucias Annaeus Seneca

Do you feel that your cousin, colleague, friend or neighbour are the luckiest people in the world because they seem to have it all figured out? Instead of wondering what have you done wrong, it’s time to take a step back and realize that as long as you live, you’re bound to lean something new. Just embrace that and keep on moving forward.

Each of this quote may be interpretedly by different people and I hope at least a few of these quotes will help you overcome your bad days and remind you that you are a winning woman.

Hui Shan talks about food on her blog; ‘Ideas Into Creation’ and occasionally attends events, company annual dinners or weddings where she puts her emceeing skills to good use. Her idea of a relaxing night is cosying up to Mitch Albom’s books, eat blueberry cheesecake and sip on a cup of peppermint tea. She secretly harbours a wish to pick fresh lemons in Amalfi Coast, Italy.
