I am always drawn to articles that attempt to help you build your confidence, achieve your goals or discover your passion. So it was not unusual that whilst reading through the Reader’s Digest that I stumbled upon a story with the fabulous title of Bliss List.
So I sat down eagerly on the throne – well isn’t this where you keep your stash of the micro mags?
Anyway, it contained pretty similar information to the plethora of articles I have previously read. But what did strike me was the statement that “you must clearly understand what makes you happy”.
This made me decidedly unhappy.
I realised that I don’t know myself anymore.
I know who I used to be.
I know where I want to be.
I do not know myself presently.
For those of you who have been following my blog for quite some time, you know that I struggle with the feeling that I have lost a big chunk of myself. The depression years and then the never ending years of ongoing ‘sickness’ have taken their toll and I am left with a shell of my former self.
I have made great progress since discovering my food chemical intolerances and now my continued efforts to not just avoid them, but to heal the impaired body so it can thrive in health again.
But, I still do not fully understand myself. Who am I now? What does make me truly happy? What does make me tick?
No one else can answer this for me and that really sucks!
My automatic response is to come up with negatives: not being sick makes me happy, having more energy would make me happy etc. etc.
I recognise I need to turn this around if I want to discover who I am presently and I think I will start with the bliss list.
It’s time to identify my bliss. I am going to leave you now to work on this list. 15 things that make me happy in the following areas:
I may be gone for quite some time, but I think the time out is very much worth it, don’t you?
Does your bliss list come easily to you?
Would you please give me a hand and note some of the things you would put on your list for these 6 categories?
Till next time….
