A marketing plan is something that every business needs to have in place; no matter how big or small. Many entrepreneurs are hesitant to create a marketing plan because they simply don’t know where to start. This means trying something new every day or week in hopes that one of them will be profitable. And, if one of them is profitable how would you know? Without a plan its not easy to repeat what works or to easily determine what is working.
The first thing you must do is determine where your target audience “hangs out“. Are they on social media? Linked In, Facebook, or Twitter? Can you meet them at local networking events?
Next, determine what benefits you bring to your ideal client. Remember, list your benefits from the client’s point of view. In other words…What’s In It For Me (WIIFM)? What benefits do they get from working with you? Is it more time, more money, piece of mind?
Once you’ve discovered what clients are getting from your business, you can then ask who is your ideal client. It is so important to know this and how best to appeal to them.
The next part of creating a great marketing plan is determining what you offer that no one else does. To set yourself apart, you must point out the thing that makes you different. Whether you offer the lowest price, the best customer service, or special promotions, this must be part of every aspect of marketing you do. Remember, make sure that whatever magic you promise your clients, that you can deliver it.
A good marketing plan is essential for every business to have. It gives you a clear direction of where to go with your marketing efforts, and will give you a better understanding of what marketing methods reach your ideal clients and which ones are profitable.
