FitMuses is a woman-to-woman fitness app that recreates the supportive environment women have when they exercise with each other. When friends aren’t available, you can listen to the real life stories and experiences of one of our FitMuses. They will motivate and inspire you to get moving!
What inspired you to launch your business idea?
I am very passionate about women’s health and self-esteem. I wanted to use my 24 years as a successful voice-over artist to create the supportive, motivational, and inspirational experience women get when they work out with each other. When friends aren’t around, they can work out with the help of our smartphone app. FitMuses approaches fitness as a lifestyle and journey to health and happiness using the stories of real women. They all have different body types, lifestyles, ages, fitness goals, etc, but they are always the friend that exercises with you and keeps you company. That’s the type of support that keeps me healthy; I want to bring that feeling to other women!
What problem does your business or organization solve?
FtiMuses addresses the emotional aspect of exercising. We give listeners something fun, supportive, and motivational to listen to to help make the time fly by! We hope to be a reason to choose to move your body!
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge as an entrepreneur has been juggling my personal life and my career. It takes a lot of time to start a business (or businesses) and then to get the word out it exists. On top of that, I have obligations to my fiance, friends, and family. I am also managing a chronic disease called Gaucher Disease (which I talk about in my FitCasts) which can sometimes have a severely limiting effect on what I am able to accomplish physically and mentally. I’ve had to learn how to listen to my body. But I’ve also channeled that challenge into FitMuses to inspire others.

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
Project Eve provides me with the opportunity to get to know the journeys of other women entrepreneurs and the businesses they create to help solve problems in the world. I think it so important to encourage and inspire others. That’s how innovation goes from an idea to an actual product. I especially enjoy reading about the times when things were NOT going well, or something DIDN’T work out. As an entrepreneur, there are so many moments where you get overwhelmed and question your entire business. But knowing that it is a part of the process that every single entrepreneur experiences is comforting and gives me the energy to move forward.
Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry or startup story.
Finding the right programmer for your mobile app can be challenging. I used a programmer a friend of mine had used for a mobile app he had created that was enjoying success. Ask people you know who have worked with programmers they have had a good relationship with. Be very clear, in writing, what you expect to be programmed and the price you have agreed to.
