Step 2—Set a destination. What do you hope to achieve in your career or your personal life? If you really think about it, you’ve probably achieved a lot. How can you build on that? Think about things you’ve wanted to do but have been afraid to try. Pick one. Go on, pick it.
Step 3—Google Map it. Not really but you can use the Internet and other resources to help you get to your destination. Do you want to learn a new hobby? Start a business? Write a book? You can do any of those things. You can do all of them. The key? See Step 4.
Step 4—Drive, my friends, drive. You can have the best map in the world but it does nothing if you don’t take action. Remember, you’ll hit bumps in the road. You may even take wrong turn. The key to getting where you’re going is to keep moving towards your destination.
Step 5—Don’t be afraid to ask for directions. I know that this can be difficult for many people, yours truly included. the truth is, any goal you have has probably already been achieved by somebody else. They can help you avoid the pitfalls and potholes that they hit on the way to their destination.
The thing about goals is we can set them at anytime. Through constant reflection we can assess our progress and make changes as needed. I love the fact that the root of the words destiny and destination are the same. Coincidence? I think not. What is your destination and how will you get there?
