At Home Dry Winter Skin Remedies

As if the cold weather isn’t bad enough in the winter, the season also brings dry skin for many people. Some cases are mild and just downright annoying. Honey Treatment. You’ve probably heard that honey soothes a sore throat.

It can also soothe dry skin. Here’s what you do: mix a spoonful of honey with a spoonful of olive oil and a touch of lemon juice. Rub your homemade lotion on your dry skin. Let it sit for twenty minutes. You can wipe it off with a warm washcloth.

Olive Oil. We’ve all heard of the benefits of cooking with olive oil.

It’s also good for your skin. When your skin is feeling dry and entering the itchy zone, rub on some olive oil. It’s good for dry cuticles, elbows, knees, etc.

Coconut Oil. Coconut oil is also a good dry skin treatment. One option is to apply it before bed. You could also put it on after the shower or bath. This may be the better choice because coconut oil is absorbed better this way. By making this part of your daily routine, you will see the difference in your skin’s appearance.

Limit Hot Showers. If you crave long, hot showers, you may be contributing to your dry skin. Water that is too hot can dry out your skin. Instead, opt for warm water, not scalding hot. This will not only help your skin, but also take a load off of your utility bills.

Drink Plenty of Liquids. Sugary sodas, juices and even caffeine can affect skin.

Opt for water and herbal teas instead because they promote hydration. This will help ease dry skin and improve skin’s appearance.

Take an Oatmeal Bath. Oatmeal is not only for breakfast. It can also help ease dry skin. Take an oatmeal bath by first putting one cup of dry oatmeal in a food processor until you have a fine powder. Scatter it in the tub with running water. Soak in the bath for 15 to 20 minutes.
