Inventive Tech for the Lazy and Unmotivated

Life in Pieces, Stranger Things, and Mr. Robot.

What are shows I’d rather be watching than working out?

It doesn’t take a Jeopardy champion to tell us that many of us are lazy and completely unmotivated to get healthy. Obviously, we have a problem and we don’t need to be reminded that the obesity and diabetes statistics are skyrocketing.

We already know.

Our problem is that we want to get healthy and workout, but something always gets in our way. Granted, it’s usually our bad choices. Yet, we want to be motivated to get off the couch and on a path to better health. We just lack the right tools.

If this sounds like you, here’re a few tech innovations that may be the kick in the pants you need to get healthy.

You Want to See Results

Sometimes it’s hard to feel good about yourself when every health magazine showcases “perfect” people? How can you stop comparing yourself to others when that’s all you see?

That’s the motivation behind MyFiziq where “body transformation is a journey and the only person you should compare yourself to, is you.” It’s an app that shows you exactly how your body transforms as you get healthier. You take two full-body pics and turns it into a 3D image that shows you exactly how your body is changing.

It’s perfect for anyone who knows their workouts are probably making them healthier but would feel a whole lot better if they could actually see the results.

Forget the “It’s Too Dark Outside” Excuse

You get accustomed to a different way of life in the North. It’s not just the cold, but the fact that it get’s dark at 4pm that kills you. Bedtime at 7pm sounds pretty good when it’s pitch black by the end of your work day.

We all have excuses for not doing the simplest workout around – walking. It’s too dark and it’s not safe. Yet, there’s an easy fix to this problem. Amazing Wristbands makes a LED wristband that lights up and has a few different flashing options.

This is great for anyone who walks their dog (a great motivation to start moving) or for those who enjoy outdoor activities like biking or jogging. The idea is that you’re not limited to the hours of daylight anymore.

You Need a Gentle Reminder

A sad part of the human condition is that eventually you’ll have neck and/or back pain. Not many people make it through life without a few painful reminders that your posture is horrid. Even when you try to remember to sit up straight, you find yourself slouching all the time. And that puts a huge damper on your quest to get healthy. You just want to sloth around when your back hurts.

Lumo Lift’s motto is “You Slouch, It Vibrates”. You clip the device to your shirt and it lets you know when you’re getting slouchy. It also has an app where you can track your posture progress.

You Need “a Cause”

I was a little skeptical with this one because it claims to give money to charity on your behalf. But as PC Magazine’s Jill Duffy explains:

When Charity Miles first launched, its developers created an initial pool of $1 million to donate to charities as people used the app. Once that pool of money ran out (and it has), the developers said they would find corporate sponsors to continue making donations on the user’s behalf (and they have).

Running and walking earns 25 cents per mile while bicycling earns 10 cents per mile. As the end-user, you don’t have to do anything at all to make sure that money reaches your charity. Charity Miles handles that part.

So far Charity Miles has earned over $1.7 million for charity and are working on their current Challenge Term that ends May 31st, 2017 and has a payout of $500,000. Perhaps your love of great causes will be enough to get your butt off the couch.

Finding the Right Motivation for You

If you’re tired of being lazy and unmotivated, it’s time to try something new. There are a million cool fitness apps and gadgets out there that inspire us to get moving. iHealth, Fitbits, and Couch to 5K have all helped us move towards a healthier life. But maybe you need a different kind of motivation.

Maybe you just need to look at fitness from a new perspective.

  12. Thanks for the a new challenge you have uncovered in your text. One thing I’d really like to reply to is that FSBO interactions are built eventually. By bringing out yourself to owners the first saturday and sunday their FSBO is announced, ahead of masses get started calling on Monday, you produce a good interconnection. By giving them resources, educational resources, free reviews, and forms, you become the ally. By subtracting a personal curiosity about them as well as their predicament, you build a solid connection that, on most occasions, pays off in the event the owners opt with a broker they know in addition to trust – preferably you.

  14. Thanks for your post. I would like to say that a health insurance dealer also works for the benefit of the actual coordinators of a group insurance cover. The health insurance professional is given an index of benefits searched for by somebody or a group coordinator. What any broker really does is find individuals or maybe coordinators which usually best complement those desires. Then he provides his recommendations and if each party agree, the broker formulates a legal contract between the 2 parties.

  20. The things i have observed in terms of pc memory is the fact there are specs such as SDRAM, DDR and so on, that must match up the specifications of the mother board. If the computer’s motherboard is reasonably current and there are no operating-system issues, modernizing the memory space literally takes under an hour or so. It’s among the easiest computer upgrade procedures one can think about. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

  22. Thanks a lot for the helpful article. It is also my belief that mesothelioma has an really long latency period, which means that signs and symptoms of the disease might not emerge until eventually 30 to 50 years after the primary exposure to asbestos fiber. Pleural mesothelioma, that’s the most common sort and influences the area round the lungs, might cause shortness of breath, chest muscles pains, and also a persistent cough, which may bring about coughing up blood vessels.

  23. I have been browsing online greater than 3 hours nowadays, yet I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s beautiful value enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content material as you did, the net will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.

  24. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.
