Is your website ready for 2015?

You have goals to accomplish in 2015 and to meet them it’s important to have the right tools. Since your website is your single greatest marketing asset, it’s a great time to take a hard look at your website and figure out if you’re ready to kick off 2015 with a bang, or if you still have a bit of work to do.

You have about five seconds to capture a visitor’s attention when they land on your site. To do this you need a visually compelling website that quickly gets to the point.

When you’re looking at your site, ask yourself:

    • Can someone figure out what my company does at a glance?
    • Does the style and the tone of my website create the right impression of my company?
    • When people come to my website is there a clear path for them to follow? Or is my site too busy (too many things to click on) or too bare (nothing to lead visitors further into the site)?

Have you brought up your site on your mobile phone recently? How about your tablet? Since mobile traffic can account for about 30% of website traffic, it’s important to make sure your site loads quickly and displays well on mobile browsers.

Blog integration

If you blog on an external location, you are not getting the most out of your blog. Two of the greatest benefits that a blog can bring you are:

    • Driving traffic to your website. Blogs are a great way to bring people to your website. Once they’re on your site, you have the opportunity to show off your assets. The ultimate goal is a lead capture or conversion, but at the very least you can highlight your products/services.
    • Search Engine Exposure. Google likes to see constant updates to your website, which most businesses don’t need to make. A blog fills that void. What’s more you can enhance your SEO strategy by using keywords strategically in your blogs.As a bonus, all the traffic that comes to your site from your blog actually helps your Google rank. Search engines want to rank sites that get visitors, so all the people that stop by to read your blog help reassure Google that you have a credible site.

If you’re blogging on an external location you don’t get to take advantage of these great benefits. So if your blog isn’t already on your company website, I highly recommend taking steps to integrate it for 2015.

We all need more hours in the day, so consider how your website might help you operate more efficiently. Here are a few ideas:

    • Online Scheduling: If managing appointments makes you shudder, switch to online scheduling. Shift your calendar online and let your clients schedule their own appointments. {Want to see this in action? Check out my schedule and if you like what you see, set up time to talk about integrating this on your own site.}
    • Online Payments: Whether you sell products or services, online payments can make things easier for you and your clients.
    • Lead Capture & Sales Conversion: If you have traffic to your website, but very few conversions, set up a “hook” to capture more leads. This might be anything from an eBook to a webinar. Once a visitor is hooked by your website, your email goes to work on the sales funnel with a series of automated emails aimed at converting leads to customers.
    • Data Capture: If you use forms to collect information from your clients, integrate those forms on your website. You can even integrate online forms with your CRM so the data goes directly into the client records. BAM! No more data entry!

As you look forward to 2015 take a good look at your website and ensure that it is ready to support all your business goals. If not, this is a great time to make some enhancements.
