The Samsung Galaxy Note5 with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 is a revelation for busy moms. If you’re looking for a high-end phone with loads of options to entertain yourself (and more likely your kids), look no further. The Galaxy Note5 offers capabilities and details that would impress the most jaded of techies, but is easy enough for busy moms to use without reading a hundred page operating manual. With the added benefit of Gorilla Glass 4, it dramatically improves protection against drops. As a mother of two, the capacity to help protect against damage is monumental. I will readily admit that I can be a little hard on my phone, but my girls take it to another level without even trying. Between spending hours in the barn and running around to sporting events while trying to juggle running a business, the last thing I need is to worry about protecting my phone from damage. Gorilla Glass 4 on the Samsung Galaxy Note5 means I can have it all- beauty, brains, and brawn.
This phone is a beauty. It has a sleek, sophisticated look that you would expect from a high-end phone. The Galaxy Note5 has a slim profile with a large and brilliant screen (5.7 inches of display; 518 pixels per inch) including curved corners and rounded rear edges. Notably, the Galaxy Note5 has a metal and glass construction, yet it weighs only about 6 ounces. It operates on the Android 5.1.1 system. Yet, no form over function worries with the Galaxy Note5— I can throw this pretty thing in my bag as I’m running out the door for school pickup and not think twice about it. Once I’m in the barn in the afternoons, the girls can take selfies and play games on the phone and I can focus on getting great videos and photos of the horses without worry. Because of Gorilla Glass 4, we can enjoy the bells and whistles of the Galaxy Note5 while knowing it has added protection against damage from drops. It’s very exciting. Liberating in fact.
The Galaxy Note5 has truly extraordinary battery life compared to other phones I have used. It seems like the more advanced devices inevitably suffer in the battery department, but not the Galaxy Note5. Despite its extensive capacity, the phone battery lasts impressively long. Plus, it charges quickly with Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging connection. Being tied to charging cord takes precious time out of my day and with the Galaxy Note5, I don’t have to be tied down. For me, this means when my kids run the battery dead playing games, I can get up and running with a fully charged phone right away.
Set-up was super easy. Upon activation, you just have to turn the phone on. It is easy to breeze through email setup and join your usual wifi networks, so you can get back to your busy life in no time.
The phone comes loaded with useful and fun Apps that you can sort through. It’s also very easy to get apps of your choice through Galaxy Apps. I was blown away by all the possibilities. The phone can even support two apps being open at the same time, side-by-side on the screen! Although I am not a techie, it has been a long time since I have been so excited to explore the possibilities of a new device. As a Mom, I can pass the phone to my girls and let them use all the cool entertaining Apps without worrying about damage.
The exceptional display bears further note. It has a 5.7” Quad HD Super AMOLED (16:9 aspect ratio) 2560×1440 pixel resolution, 518 ppi resolution that adjusts to any light. In plainer terms, this means images come to life on the screen— they pop! One of the greatest features for me is the Gorilla Glass 4 on the screen, which dramatically improves protection against drops. As a mom and horse trainer, the Galaxy Note5’s damage resistant screen means I can worry less about scratches or drops while I am in the barn. In laboratory tests, Gorilla Glass 4 survives up to 80% of the time when dropped from 3 feet high, and was up to 2x tougher than competitive glass designs. Being a horse trainer’s phone is not for the fragile and the Galaxy Note5 with Gorilla Glass 4 has ponied up! With Gorilla Glass 4, the focus is on improving damage resistance against sharp contact, such as a drop on asphalt, concrete, and other rough surfaces. Some time ago, before our lives were improved by the Samsung Note5 with Gorilla Glass 4, a bad “pass off” to my oldest daughter sadly resulted in a shattered screen. If you’re a mom trying to do many things throughout the day, this Gorilla Glass 4 phone facilitates your tasks without adding to your stress. This phone is life charging for me (and ultimately my husband who has a penchant for allowing the equine environment and his phone to meet.)
The phone is durable and aesthetically pleasing. The camera is also incredible! As a mother of two, I can photograph indoor school events like the Talent Show and shoot sporting events like Soccer games with ease and high-quality outcome. With its built-in editing capabilities, you will feel like a photography pro. Firstly, there is no better camera for taking a selfie, just ask my girls who have taken one from every angle and enjoying every edit feature. The Beauty edit is so advanced, it can even enlarge your eyes or smooth out your skin tone. Didn’t wear makeup today? Don’t worry, the photo edit possibilities allow you to still look your best. There are effects to alter the mood and exposure of your photos and you can even edit the photo file size before you take the pic. There’s a Wide Selfie mode that makes room for your friends in the photo. Videos are impressively clear and high quality. School or equestrian sports, this camera is the best! The camera offers a live broadcast option and a video collage, along with many other editing options making a great photograph or video foolproof! In the barn, we make quick videos of horses all the time, for sales display or even to track a horse’s progress. The videos on the Galaxy Note5 are simply clearer and better quality. It’s great when we go horse shopping for a customer and want to review the horses we saw on a given day. It helps us remember what we liked.
Even on cloudy, winter days when we are stuck inside, I can get beautiful clear photos of the girls with the horses! Not even the professional photographers can get such great lighting in the indoor arena. Check out this photo of my daughter doing tricks on the Friesian on a dreary day.
Another important feature of the Galaxy Note 5 is the unique S Pen– I love it. Tucked neatly inside the phone itself, a push of a button and out pops the coolest and most effective stylus pen, allowing you to actually write on the screen with ease. Very convenient and easy to use. True-to-life pressure sensitivity and a very accurate pen tip puts you in control of your writing and drawing. As a mom, my favorite use for the S pen is for the grocery list. I can open the list, then cross things off with the pen as I get it while zipping through the grocery store. If I don’t cross things off I forget things. My kid’s favorite use for the S pen is, well pretty much everything, because it’s fun and easy.
The Galaxy Note 5 with Gorilla Glass 4 is the real deal. It is easy and fun to use in all the aspects that we have come to expect from our devices, but in many unexpected ways too! I highly recommend it for anyone, but especially Moms who want a sophisticated, entertaining, damage resistant phone that stands up to the everyday demands of being a mother.
