Startup Stories: ADH Culinary Concepts

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
I am the Owner and Executive Chef of ADH Culinary Concepts – a collective of chefs, bakers, culinary instructors, sommilers and event planners working together to bring you the finest in cuisine and beverages.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
I had been working in the entertainment industry for over ten years when I found myself laid off. After my lucrative career ended at Disney, I chose that now was the time to pursue my dream, my passion, which was cooking, and see if I could make a business out of it.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
Being homeless, lol. Actually, I have job security, because people will always need to eat, weddings will still go on, kids and adults will turn a year older, anniversaries, baby showers and other exciting life events will happen, and they will all need to be fed. That’s where I come in.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
The one challenge, which is a good one, is the need to expand. So what I am essentially doing now is starting this process all over again, but am now looking to launch in Los Angeles. I must be careful in my approach and check out my demographic thoroughly so that I appeal to a broad, wide range of tastes. There are literally thousands of options one can choose from in LA, so I have to provide a service that is not only unique, but stands out among the rest.

Give us one word that people might use to describe you.

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
It’s very inspiring to read so many stories of strong, powerful and successful woman who picked themselves up and just did it! It’s not easy, but these other strong, female entrepreneurs give their strength in numbers, pushing us all to want to empower each other. I know when I read of yet another female business owner, I high-five the air and say, “you go, girl!”

Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry or startup story.
Everyone “borrows” from everyone in the industry. There are very few original recipes out there anymore, just chef who have put their spin on dishes…but I hear imitation is the biggest form of flattery.
