Startup Stories: Birchtree and Company

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
Birchtree & Company is a Cooperative Community Support Network offering a variety of resources to women experiencing major life changes and giving them a chance to thrive at life.

We are a company that wants to help women by providing what is needed at a time when they need it most. Whether it’s at the beginning, when they need to know where to start; in the middle, when they’ve tried on their own but exhausted all their current options; or near the end, when they need just a bit more help to get over the last hurdle, Birchtree & Company is there to help.

Our goal is to support and motivate women by offering social and spiritual growth and promoting economic independence while encouraging self-worth.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
The idea for Birchtree & Company came along while I was dealing with my own struggles around my separation/divorce. This major life change impacted me greatly and the biggest difficulty I found was finding resources to help me cope.

Traveling on this new path I’ve met women along the way who shared their stories with me. And as I listened, common threads emerged that tied us together. No matter the reason, we all felt alone and we didn’t know where to turn to find the help we needed.

I started by trying to find answers for myself and it has become the inspiration for Birchtree & Company to help any woman that felt this powerless feeling by giving them hope. By helping one, we help ourselves.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
At Birchtree & Company we offer support resources to help women through their time of need. These resources are varied and the list continually grows reflecting the needs and wants of the women we are helping.

From a friendly chat to let them know they are not alone to a hand to hold while they, we are here for them.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
Aside from financial, my biggest hurdle has been my follow through – taking the idea and making it work

I have wanted to have my own business for sometime. The ideas I’ve had in the past never got further than the idea itself. I would usually get bogged down with the planning stages and figuring out all the details would make me forget the idea altogether.

Even though it took some time and perseverance, I have accomplished more with Birchtree & Company than ever before. I am very proud of myself that I was able to take my thoughts and desires and flesh it out into a workable business.
