Tell us about your product or service.
BlueAvocado is the love child of style and sustainability, born and bred by 3 women in Austin, Texas. At first we set out to change just one thing – the way you shop. So we built a company run by women for the good of everybody.
What inspired you to launch your business?
When we launched our business nearly five years ago as 3 Texas women, our dream was to create eco-friendly products that inspired a reusable green lifestyle that reduces waste, empower women locally and globally.
What problem does your business or organization solve?
BlueAvocado is poised to deliver on their promise to empower people to reduce their ecological footprint, enable the dreams of other women entrepreneurs and create an impact that inspires action.
In fact, the original vision of three women, friends and sisters has evolved into a new model for business success. To date the company has kept over 128 million disposable alternatives out of landfills, upcycled more than 3 million bottles and invested in more than 459 women micro-entrepreneurs.
What has been your biggest challenge and how are you working to overcome it?
We started with a vision of being a green consumer brand in mass retail. We’ve learned that while the green story is important for our personal vision and we have built a transparent supply chain and assets such as our impact label and using recycled materials to support this, it doesn’t always resonate with thr consumer. So we have worked hard over the last few years to create inspiring products at accessible price points with great design. That way – we are able to meet people wherever they are on their green journey, but we can still feel confident that we are doing everything we can to continue to green our supply chain.
We are also in the process of launching a new line employing women refugees.
