Startup Stories: Going Corporate

Tell us about your product or service.
I am a Nevada Registered Agent providing incorporation services, LLC and Series LLC company formations, Nevada secretary of state filings, state business license assistance, local street address with mail forwarding service.

What inspired you to launch your business?
A few weeks ago on a Friday night, I received a rather frustrated-sounding email from my former registered agent and private mailbox service provider, saying he was being forced to close his business due to landlord and health issues, and had been unable to sell it. I had been looking for another project, and already knew a bit about incorporation because I had formed a few companies of my own, so I replied to that email and started a conversation. I knew that many people would be left in the cold with no mailing address or registered agent through no fault of their own, so I wanted to help. We struck a deal that weekend and by Monday afternoon I had rented an office, applied for my business licenses and was on my way. I am now helping those people make the transition to using a new address and registered agent, honoring their old renewal dates with the former service provider, so their financial and time costs are minimal. Being forced to change a business address can be daunting, and I feel great knowing that I’ve been able to help people manage this process with ease.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
In the bigger picture, many businesses want to base their operations in Nevada instead of their home states because of Nevada’s more business-friendly laws, and I help them do that with ease.

Additionally, by providing a local street address in Las Vegas, Nevada, and mail forwarding service, my business allows people to travel freely, knowing their important mail will never be missed. My company also uses automated systems to help people keep track of all their required secretary of state filings so they never have to pay a late fee for a missed deadline.

What has been your biggest challenge and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge so far has been in getting existing transfer clients used to the way I manage their accounts. I have automated almost everything, in contrast to their former service provider who did everything manually. I find that once I show people how much simpler it is for them to deal with this, and how much more efficiently I can handle their accounts, they like it much better and thank me for what I’m doing.

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
I am learning a ton about women in business and finding lots of networking opportunities.

Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry.
Many people believe a Series LLC is the absolute best type of entity to form, but that may not be true for most small business owners. It’s best to seek advice from legal and tax professionals before deciding on which type of entity is best for you – whether Corporation, LLC or Series LLC.
