Startup Stories: Good Things Do Come To Those Who Wait!

Connected Hearts

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
I am a Naturopathic Doctor, Personal Coach, and an Author. Currently, I am working as a Naturopathic Doctor and Personal Coach out of my Glendora office. I also offer remote sessions to my clients.
My passion is writing and that is where my heart takes me. I still work hard at my clinic, but I’m happy to say that I recently reworked my schedule to provide more time for my writing projects. I also write an advice column for the Weekly News.

I have completed my first book “Connected Hearts.” Currently I am working on my second book, “The Dessert Menu” and an Ebook that will be out soon.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
I left corporate America in 1989. I worked in sales/service for a large paper company and loved almost every minute of it. Unfortunately, my commute took an hour and ten minutes on a good day, and I often had to impose on my family to get my children picked up on time from day care. Since I was a divorced mother of two, it became clear that I needed to create a more workable situation.

My mom offered to babysit in the evenings so I could go back to school after work. I eventually opened an alternative health clinic, and I worked like crazy on my own for several years. I remarried in 1994, and my husband Mike was very supportive when I decided to return to school in 1999 to get a degree in Naturopathic Medicine. I joined forces with my friend who is a chiropractor, and we have a beautiful clinic together in Glendora, California.

In 2005 I started to struggle with anxiety. Being married, raising three children, and running a business was a full load. Trying my best to stay loyal to my alternative medicine background, I wanted to avoid pharmaceutical drugs. So, on one beautiful November day, I turned on my computer and started writing a story in an effort to neutralize my anxiety, and it worked beautifully.

That story turned into a book called Connected Hearts. It’s a story about two sisters who face every imaginable emotion as they search for love and spicy romance. Several twists and turns make this a fun book to read..

I published this book in 2013, and it’s available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and several other sites. Connected Hearts, is book one, in a trilogy series. Please check it out if you’re a reader of contemporary romance stories.

I would love to connect with you and hear about your business interests and offerings.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
As a Naturopathic Doctor and a Personal Coach, I prompt my patients and clients to take a look at what else is possible to improve their emotional, and physical well being. I help them see that what they are currently doing is often not serving them well. The environment I create ensures safety, and freedom to grow outside of the tight fitting box of perceived limitations that often cause suffering.

As an Author, I’d like to think that I bring entertainment to people. My goal is to provide a decent break from the daily grind that life can be at times.

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge as a first time author is the Social Media and Branding. Learning what is required to get my book reviewed has presented some challenges too.

I have assistance with social media to help me in promoting the book. Learning by trial and error will have its benefits in promoting my next book.

  12. I have noticed that in old digital cameras, special devices help to aim automatically. These sensors involving some video cameras change in contrast, while others work with a beam involving infra-red (IR) light, especially in low lumination. Higher spec cameras at times use a mixture of both methods and likely have Face Priority AF where the digital camera can ‘See’ your face as you concentrate only on that. Thank you for sharing your opinions on this blog site.
