Startup Stories: KidWX Resources for Children

Working to get reviews from parents everywhere.

Tell us about your product or service.
KidWX connects parents from around the nation to share resources for their children. KidWX aids parents of children from infancy through college and takes pride in highlighting the special needs community. KidWX allows parents to quickly gain context when looking for resources for their children in the form of unfiltered reviews, we call them WX’s, (Written eXchanges). KidWX compliments HR departments by providing fairs, expos, speakers and webinars on site to businesses assisting employees in easily finding family support.

What inspired you to launch your business?
We are both mothers with 5 children between the two of us, ranging from first grade through high school: we often found it difficult to find the right services for our children. We found that many resources were costly and time consuming and we did not want to waste time and money on things that did not work. As any parent (working or stay at home) knows, when your child is struggling you want to have a go to place to get help, that is KidWX.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
KidWX solves many problems that come up for parents, we provide “bus stop conversations” that parents might not have the time to have and put them online. We offer everything in one place for all ages and types of children and families. When we started KidWX we found that there were many review based websites for children, but what sets us apart is that we have everything in ONE place, a closed member community, unfiltered reviews (YES, we will post negative reviews) and strict terms of service in order to protect the integrity of our reviews.

What has been your biggest challenge and how are you working to overcome it?
Our biggest challenge has been providing the “One Stop Shop” that KidWX is known for, having everything in one place is great, but it is hard to do! We are working day and night to ensure that we provide resources on everything that comes up in family life and will continue to do so! That being said, it’s tough!

Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
