In both terms of online platforms and dollars raised, crowdfunding has been doubling annually in growth. $2.l7 billion was raised on 536 platforms in 2012. Then for 2013, the projection was $5.1 billion. But now, Forbes Magazine says it’s closer to $6 billion.

The problem is that no matter how exciting it sounds, success rates for crowdfunding are low. The exact stats are not known and each platform has its own data, but none-the-less, it’s clear that success relies on preparation and knowledge of how to attract and leverage the online market.

You can jump in and try on your own, or you can take some extra time to assure you make your goal. Over the past 6 months, I’ve managed 3 campaigns and achieved 100% success raising over $150,000. Let me share my tips accumulated from over 30 years of marketing and working with corporate, nonprofit, local and international clients.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
My career has reflected change since the beginning, first in Silicon Valley working with the greats introducing world-changing technologies to the world. Then I spent over 10 years working in non-profit where I learned from people having greater challenges in life than me and where I was able to start making a real difference in others lives. I’m deeply honored to have received the highest award for Service Above Self twice from Rotary International.

After my children were grown, my entrepreneurial spirit won and I began consulting again plus started my own online radio show with episodes on iTunes, Socially Conscious Investing. From there, my clientele grew again to include international causes.

Then last year, when the JOBS Act brought attention to crowdfunding, I immediately recognized its power to help everyone be able to leave a legacy of impact. My goal has become to help people learn and give and grow.

What problem does your business or organization solve?

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge has always been giving things away. I am so inspired by people that I want to help them and often do so at my own expense.
