Startup Stories: One artist reaching out to help other artists!

Crafty Helper Fox

Tell us about your product or service.
I am a helper to growing artistic/crafty/handmade businesses. There is a lot when a business starts growing that the one-person operation just can no longer do/manage. There is a big jump to hire someone as a full time employee. My business gives them a chance to get their feet wet and do lots of the “need-to’s” of business to keep growing but takes away from the creative time to keep the business growing and evolving.

What inspired you to launch your business?
I am a mom to a growing family (I have four kiddos under the age of 7!) and an artist. I have been selling my handmade goods for over 7 years, I am immersed in the handmade world and I know what it all takes to do this for a living. Because of my growing family it has been tougher for me to do things like craft shows so I wanted to help others on the tasks that I can easily do from home. Its a win-win I get to stay home with my kiddos AND I get to help another crafty business grow!

What problem does your business or organization solve?
I free up time to let artist work on their craft and their creative loves.

What has been your biggest challenge and how are you working to overcome it?
I am only a week old. While I have been in this industry for a long time I have always come to the “making” side not the “service” side so I am getting to use my thinking cap and the best places to advertise.

Also the people I like to work the most with are artists that are just really getting in to their stride and are at that tipping point of needed additional help. There is a mindset still at that point in their business journey that they cant afford help. My challenge is to show them how they cant afford NOT to hire me, the value and growth by giving me a few hours a week to free up there daily activities to really focus on continuing to grow their business.

Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
Connection-seeker (technically not one word but I made it a word :D )

How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
Its amazing source of reference, inspiration and ideas that can help both me and my clients!

Give us an insider tip that relates to your industry.
This is a tip for new artists getting into the craft/handmade industry and want to do craft shows. Most bigger “indie/urban” shows will release applications 6 months before the show. So in the heat of summer you need to be thinking Christmas :D (If you missed the deadline, dont fret too much this is a great chance for you to really research the shows you want to vend at and find ones that are a good fit!)
