Summer vacation is upon us. For most families, summer is a combination of summer camps, family trips, and unstructured time. Unfortunately, even ‘unstructured’ time like hanging out in the backyard the requires a bit of planning so that everyone has a great time. For my family, getting a great summer together requires planning that starts months in advance. We have to pull out the calendar mid-February to plot out different trips and a series of different camps for the weeks we aren’t away. Keeping everyone occupied takes planning. I’m looking for turnkey solutions to have and share unstoppable fun.
Unfortunately, even after the camps are booked the planning continues so our days can be fun filled; Lunches are made, backpacks are filled and our little camper gets a once over with Banana Boat® sunscreen before he heads out the door so he has continuous sun protection no matter what the day’s adventures at camp include.
Getting ready for the day also means there is a can of Banana Boat® sunscreen at camp with him each day. –Sun protection requires a 1 oz. application every 2 hours.
Sunscreen is an essential for ALL outdoor activities, hikes, bike rides, swimming or even just a meal out in the backyard even when it’s cloudy. Sunscreen does more than protect against sunburns, it protects against long-term effects that are not always visible, like skin damage and skin cancer. As all moms know, planning ahead is key!
Sun safety tips no matter what summer adventure you choose
Sun safety tip #1 – Be sure to apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to you and your kids’ entire bodies 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating.
Sun safety tip #2 Make sunscreen application fun. Pick a song to sing (listen to) while applying sunscreen. It keeps kids engaged and makes it feel like less of a chore.
Sun safety tip # 3 Make sunscreen application easy. I love Banana Boat’s® new SunComfort™ Clear UltraMist® Sunscreen – it provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection and water resistance. As an added bonus when we are at the beach it also allows sand to easily brush off! My Family is also a big fan of Banana Boat’s® Kids Stick SPF 50 it goes on exactly where you want it to, stays there and, importantly, provides great protection.
Sun safety tip #4 Sunscreen is an essential for ALL outdoor activities, hikes, bike rides, swimming, or a picnic in the backyard. It needs to be applied (and then reapplied) to provide continuous protection. It is important to develop smart sun habits early. In our family, sun or clouds, sunscreen needs to be applied if you are outside!
Whatever sun scene you and your family choose, Banana Boat® has you covered!
