Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
Uproar PR is a Public Relations and Social Media firm that is headquartered in Orlando. The firm has successfully built brand recognition and strategic relationships for their clients in the consumer industry. Uproar specializes in developing campaigns that drive awareness and sales, creating industry buzz. The firm partners with companies to help share their products and services with audiences that matter whether that is local, trade, business or national press.
What inspired you to launch your business idea?
After a decade working at other PR agencies, Catriona knew what she liked and how she wanted her agency to be run. She and her husband decided to join forces and start Uproar to create an agency that put the responsibility on the agency rather than the client. They made Uproar’s focus to provide amazing and effective PR services to its clients, while growing a dynamic and healthy work environment that felt more like a family. This concept has already proven to be extremely successfully, with an impressive client list that continues to grow as well as employees that are thriving and happy to have found a home at Uproar PR – a win-win for all. Catriona was confident in her ability to create an environment that would lead to stellar results and long-lasting client relationships.
What problem does your business or organization solve?
Uproar PR assists our clients in making a name for themselves through thought leadership opportunities as well as gaining local and national press attention. We ultimately want to obtain coverage for our clients so that new sales opportunities arise whether that is through new consumer adoption or new business partnerships. We work with a lot of early stage and growth companies that have great products but don’t necessarily have the know how to bring it to the masses, that is when we step in. We work with our clients on branding and messaging to ensure their products are properly positioned and ready to be brought to the masses.
What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
The biggest challenge that faces Uproar PR is finding talented, hardworking employees that understand the demanding nature of the job. The firm wants people on its team that want to wow clients and let nothing stop them from getting the job done, whether they get a no from an editor or have to spend hours researching the best thought leadership opportunities for our clients – they thrive on getting the best results possible. We have an awesome team but that doesn’t happen overnight, nor does it come easily.
Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
Go-getter. When Catriona sets her sights on something, nothing is out of her reach. This mentality has been evident from the start of her career. By the age of 29 she was the Vice President of a Public Relations firm where she spearheaded the company’s expansion, establishing an East Coast office and helping the firm grow its revenue by 300%. This experience only made her more hungry to start a PR firm of her own and change the way an agency is run. Since the agency’s inception in 2011, it has flourished under her management with year over year growth. The future is bright at Uproar PR and that is in large part to Catriona’s go-getter attitude!
How has Project Eve helped you and/or your business?
As a company that is led by and mostly comprised of women, Project Eve is a great resource to see how women are thriving in the business world. It is a one-stop shop in learning how women are overcoming obstacles and increasing opportunities for younger women that are just starting their own career path. Catriona has also found it is a great tool to network with women that understand the everyday victories and struggles of running a company.
