Startup Stories: Two Sisters and a Specialized Virtual Team

Tell us about your entrepreneurial product or service.
We support, inspire, and help coaches, consultants and professional service providers to create a lifestyle business by enabling them to “multiply” themselves. We provide specialized virtual assistants in three important areas: bookkeeping, administration and marketing for one monthly fee. They can easily delegate tasks with a dedicated and secure online workspace the entire team shares. A virtual team is created within minutes and it feels like being in one office without the office.

What inspired you to launch your business idea?
We are two sisters (Yes it’s possible!) that have been virtual assistants since 2005. Yaritza, the virtual bookkeeper, specializes in QuickBooks bookkeeping and Denisse, the Virtual Assistant/Marketer supports business owners with administrative duties and their online presence.

We have worked together and apart in the last 8 years. During that time we kept coming across business owners that depended on one other person to help them. They would hire that one assistant to do bookkeeping, administration, website maintenance, and online marketing. Important tasks would fall through the cracks, mistakes would be made, and many times that one person decided they didn’t want to work for that business owner anymore and the business owner was left without support.

Those same business owners would then work with my sister and I because they needed help in these 3 departments and the idea of BusySuperVA was born. My sister always called herself BusySuperGirl since she is a single work-at-home mom so was super mom and somewhere in there was the girl! LOL

We wanted small businesses to have an alternative choice to hiring in-house employees and investing in people that might not stay for the long-term. By delegating recurring task to our experienced team they can replace 1 – 3 employees with just 1 specialist. An entire business can be supported with an expert in each of these 3 departments. The online workspace takes care of management by keeping everyone informed and working together (one hand knows what the other is doing). Our team and systems can eliminate an entire office making it possible for the owner to take time off whether it’s mini-retirements or long vacations. They can also reduce their schedule which is the goal of every person that goes into business for themselves.

What problem does your business or organization solve?
We are proud to say tons! Here are the most common solutions we provide:

1. Lack of talent
2. Small budget but still need help
3. Preventing BOs from being employees themselves and living the 6 to 10 nightmare
4. Reduce high overhead to maximize profits
5. Lack of consistency with business systems and processes

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur and how are you working to overcome it?
Capital has definitely been the biggest challenge for the goals we have. We are a bootstrapped business. It has limited us in marketing options and reach. We are implementing a social media strategy and reaching out to potential sponsors related to our industry.

Give us one word that people might use to describe you.
Denisse has been frequently described as knowledgeable and Yaritza has been described as efficient many times. When you give her a problem, she’s quick to find a solution. If you have to have one word to describe both of us and our business it would have to be ethical. We’ve been told that many times too.
