Tell us about your product or service.
I do residential and commercial cleaning in the NW Iowa area. I work on my own from Fall to late Spring. That is when the “Summer people” come back to the area which is known as The Iowa Great Lakes. We have 5 lakes in the area and a ton of gorgeous homes that are only used 3 months out of the year. I do have my year round clients to keep me busy in the “off-season”.
What inspired you to launch your business?
I took business classes and when we focused on small business/entrepreneurs that is when the idea started forming in my mind of going out on my own. I know a lot of people in the area and so with their help I was able to start up and acquire clients within 2 weeks! I also am not a factory worker by any means and after years of doing that, I knew it was time to take that leap and it was all that. Scary, unpredictable, ever-changing not to forget Rewarding!
What problem does your business or organization solve?
I clean homes and offices even a laundry mat. I do weekly, biweekly, monthly and one time/random cleaning. I help anyone who is in need of assistance whether they are recovering from an illness/surgery to families who have too much on their plate and are seeking someone to help with keeping their homes clean.
What has been your biggest challenge and how are you working to overcome it?
My biggest challenge is hiring the perfect candidate. So far I have had to fire 2 people because they brought their personal lives to work and it interfered with the business and their performance. So over the Winter I will be researching staffing firms and have them do the hiring for me.
